Conrad Switzer, along with son Jarrett and his wife Dannielle, are the third and fourth generation to farm at 655 Clear Lake Road, off Hwy 28 E, less than ten minutes from Bancroft. Their farm is a mixed operation with an emphasis on seasonal fruits and vegetables. Dannielle keeps chickens and offers farm fresh eggs at the farm gate market. She has also recently ventured into the raising of Dorper sheep.
Beginning in 2020, Switzers’ Farm relocated its farmer’s market from where it had been since the mid 1970s in downtown Bancroft, to the farm gate, in response to the pandemic. Plans are already underway for offering their fresh fruit and vegetables from the farm gate again this year on specific days, Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Produce includes potatoes, carrots, cucumbers, sweet corn, cabbage, pumpkins, squash, onions, kale, garlic, dill, tomatoes and so much more. Pre-orders are welcome and can be paid for by e-transfer. Switzer’s Farm has a very active Facebook page where you can discover weekly offerings as the season progresses.
Shop for Christmas trees (before they’re gone)! Open from 9 am to 8 pm on Cannifton Road in Belleville and 9 am to 3 pm Saturday and 11 am to 2 pm on Sunday at the farm at 655 Clear Lake Road in Bancroft. We hope go see you this weekend at one place or the other. Shop early for best selection!
The Switzers are proud to be working together to carry on the family history of farming in North Hastings.
Come for the freshness, stay for the view at Switzers’ Farm!
