Statistics realised two weeks ago by Stats Canada showed once again that this region is falling behind the province, still, when it comes to population growth. With the provincial growth average at 1% annually, Belleville from 2011-2016 showed the highest growth rate at .52% a year, with the rest of the region falling behind, and the County showing a negative .5% shrinkage in its population.
