The Premier’s Award for Agri-Food Innovation Excellence program encourages the development of our rural communities, farms, agri-food processors and agri-food organizations by adding value to existing products, creating jobs and driving economic growth. Recipients are eligible to receive one of the following prizes:
– One Premier’s Award – valued at $75,000
– One Minister’s Award – valued at $50,000
– Three Leaders in Innovation Award – valued at $25,000 each
– 45 Provincial Awards – valued at $5,000 each
Eligible primary producers/farmers, food processors and agri-food organizations are welcome to apply. Applications will be accepted until 11:59 PM on Friday, April 28, 2017. Program guidelines and the application form can be found on the Premier’s Award for Agri-Food Innovation Excellence website
What kind of innovations have resulted in winning projects? visit agrifoodinnovation to see over 525 examples of award winning innovations. Some examples include:
– implementing leading edge environmental management solutions
– development of a new food product or processing technique
– modifying equipment to improve production practices
– implementing community supported agriculture (crowd sourcing) to finance operations
